Services TMJ dysfunction

What if your headache started in the jaw?

The joint that opens and closes your mouth, the TMJ, is one of the most used joints you have. When it falls out of rhythm, the pain rarely stays there. It turns into headache, ear pain, neck pain, and almost nobody connects one thing to the other.

Signs nobody links to the TMJ

Maybe the problem was never just "tension".

Frequent headache

The one that starts at the temple or behind the eyes, and no test explains it.

A click when you open your mouth

A click or a grind when you yawn, chew, or talk.

A jaw that locks

The mouth that catches and will not open all the way, sometimes with pain.

Teeth grinding

Night bruxism. You wake with a tired face and teeth that are wearing down.

Ringing and ear pain

A blocked-ear feeling or ringing with no hearing cause.

Tension in the neck and face

Face and neck muscles always tight, with no break.

Checked two or more? Look at the TMJ before you treat each symptom on its own.

Connecting the dots

One joint. Several pains that look unconnected.

The TMJ is the temporomandibular joint, where your jaw meets your skull, just in front of the ear. It works all day: chewing, talking, swallowing, yawning.

The muscles that move it link up with the muscles of your face, neck, and head. So when the TMJ falls out of rhythm, pain spreads through that network. You treat the headache, the ear, and the neck, and never reach the source.

Physical therapy steps in right there: at the joint and at the muscle that drives it.

How we treat it

We treat the joint and what overloads it.

01

Assess the joint

We measure how far you open, how you move, the clicks, and the face and neck muscles, to find the source.

02

Release and reposition

Manual therapy, muscle release, and mobilization help you get movement back and ease the pain.

03

Retrain the habit

Exercise and guidance against clenching and bruxism, so the pain does not walk back in when the week gets tight.
